Type of Race: Harescramble

Front Tire Used: Washougal
Rear Tire Used: Washougal
Class: Light A |
Moto Finish: 1st
Overall Finish: 7th
Current Series Standings: NA
Comments on Performance of Tires: The Washougal’s as
in the previous race worked flawlessly.
Report: I hadn’t planned on competing in the event
being I did not have a partner. The Saturday before the race a new
up and coming racer named Cady Hardesty, 15 years old, called me and
asked if I would be his partner. He currently rides a KTM 105 and
has only competed with the big bikes on a few occasions. When you
partner up you have to ride the top riders class. This would mean
that we have to ride in the Light A class.
I started the race and finished the 1st lap in the
lead. I handed off to Cody and off he went. He dug deep to try and
not let me down. When he came around to hand back off to me he had
lost a little ground but we still had the lead. GREAT JOB CODY! And
off I went for my lap. The laps were about 5 miles long and the race
would last for 3 hours.
About half way thru the race the leaders passed us
and now we were a lap down. Cody and I fought back hard to get that
lap back and on the last lap I had reeled the leaders back in. I put
pressure on the leader consistently on the last lap of the race. I
couldn’t get around and I knew the only way to get the lap back is
to have a flawless hand off in the pits. When I came out of the
woods headed to the pits Cody spotted me and the leader and knew
what was up. Cody beat the leader out of the pit and we gained our
lap back.
The race ended and we had captured the Light A win
and a 7th overall. Cody was happy and I was certainly proud of him.
He did an awesome job and I was glad he called.

Comments on Performance of Tires: The track looked
like it would be made for an intermediate tire. Hence the Washougal.
The tires worked flawlessly. After the race you could hardly tell I
had even raced.
Report: With me not running the whole series I had
decided to race the morning sportsman class. With some x-pros in the
class it still made for some good racing. The green flag flew and
off the line I went. I got a decent jump and went in the woods about
5th. I stayed with the leaders the first lap and finished it in 4th.
I slowly started loosing ground and held my position
till 2 laps to go. When I got the white flag I was in 5th. I didn’t
know who had passed me and didn’t know where. I went thru the pits
and to my surprise there was Pete (my best friend) getting gas. As I
went by I was sure to let him know that I was passing him for 4th
place. He shot out of the pits in hot pursuit.
He caught me about a third of the way thru and he
came on by. He dug deep to try and gap me and break my spirit. Sorry
Pete that just wasn’t going to happen. I continued the pressure till
an open field section where I made my move. After the field there
were several miles of single track. I kept him at bay there.
I knew that the last place for him to try and make a
move was on the big hill climb towards the end. As we approached the
bottom the lapped riders were stacked everywhere. I shot my way thru
and was able to hang on to 4th place to the end.
