Athletes Shine at Sea
Otter
Monterey,
CA , April 21st,
2008 - Andy
Schultz stood on the
podium this past
weekend for his 5th
place effort in the
short track event at
the Sea Otter
Classic. This was
the first podium for
the team this season
at an international
event. His tenacious
ride during the 30
minutes of intense
racing was proof of
his ability hang
with the best in the
sport. Immediately
after the start,
riders bunched going
up the first climb
pushing Andy from
his front row start
position to 15th
place. He made a
strong move on the
fast descent and
long straight away
to move into the top
ten. After that, it
was only a matter of
time as he picked
off riders ahead of
him each lap. With
two to go, he passed
the last rider
between himself and
the podium,
finishing
comfortably in 5th
place. Robert Marion
also suffered from
the first lap crash,
pushing him from his
3rd row start to
last place. Showing
absolute
determination, he
rode steadily back
through the crowd to
finish in the middle
of the field.
 In
the women's events,
Amanda Riley-Carey
had her best short
track finish taking
9th place among the
international field
of elite women. But
her best result
would come in the
cross country where
she finished in
seventh place. Quite
a year for the first
year pro! Krista
Park rolled through
in 11th place. In
the men's cross
country, a crash
just after the start
forced both Andy and
Robert to stop for
bike repairs,
pushing them both
from the lead group.
Technical notes: We
were fortunate to
receive a pair of
the new Hayes
Stroker Gram brakes
on Friday, which
were installed on
Andy's Titus before
the racing began. We
also received our
new R7 MRD TPC
Answer forks which
were also installed
on all bikes before
racing. For the dry
conditions, the
Kenda tire of choice
for the team was the
Short Tracker for
both STXC and XC
races. Athletes were
evenly divided
between racing the
Titus Fireline Ti
hard tail and the
Racer-X Carbon full
suspension.
Until the next race-

Cohutta 100 National
Endurance Race
Copperhill, TN,
April 19th, 2008
Danielle Musto
didn't think she
would finish the
opening event of the
National Endurance
series this past
weekend. A fall on a
wet bridge crossing
only 15 miles in
required that an
ambulance be called
to assist her early
in the race. But the
sight of several of
her elite
competitors passing
by seemed to shake
the cobwebs away and
after a 20 minute
break and clearance
from the paramedics,
she was back on the
bike. 14,000 feet of
climbing and another
85 miles later, she
clawed her way back
to 6th place after
the 100 miles were
covered.

Mountain States Cup
Podium for Amanda
Amanda Riley-Carey took
her fist podium of the
season last week at the
prestigious Mountain
States Cup opener in
Rabbit Valley, CO. Her
fourth place finish was
impressive as the field
contained several women
who've had success in
international racing.
