Hans Rey was born and raised in the Black Forest in Germany, but has Swiss nationality. He’s a former Trials World Champion and is considered the pioneer of Extreme Mountain Biking and Freeriding by many. Early in his career, Hans was nicknamed “No Way Rey“ for his ability to make trials stunts and the most difficult lines look easy. He‘s been sponsored by GT Bicycles (gtbicycles.com) for over 20 years, and was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame (mtnbikehalloffame.com) in 1999. He has brought mountain biking to the masses by performing at events like the 1996 X-Games and the Olympics, and through numerous TV and video performances over the years. Today, Hans travels the globe spreading the mountain bike gospel through his inspired riding in beautiful locations and his charity, Wheels 4 Life. And it’s through this work that Hans remains one of the best ambassador’s of the sport to date. For more information on Mr. No Way Rey visit hansrey.com and wheels4life.org.

Hans Rey Signature Series

In keeping up with his “extreme” reputation, Hans named his tire the Telonix after the legendary Laguna Rads downhill course/trail/race. The RADS are an infamous, underground biking club, that has been around for about a quarter century in Southern California. For 22 years the Rads have organized the oldest standing downhill race in the world, the Leaping Lizard, on the legendary Telonix trail. The Telonix is a steep but diverse course that includes every element of a world class track. Kenda’s Legends have participated in it - Hans has won it (again in 2006), Tomac has raced it, Lopes has also won it several times and EC trains on it. But don’t ever expect to see a race flyer on it, it’s an invitation-only event conducted without race organizers or press-coverage.

Given the scope of this race and the varying terrain Hans rides, a versatile tire is needed. One that can go uphill just as fast as downhill. The Telonix is just that. Taller and longer center knobs provide uphill grip and soft gradual ramp at the front provides downhill speed. The “H” shaped side knobs not only provide aggressive cornering bite, but also pay homage to the man himself. Its an all-round tire that works for all styles of riding, depending on the size of the tire and its compound it can be used for XC, Downhill, Freeride and Trials and everything in between.

  • Downhill (DH) wire bead version offers 2-ply construction and Stick-E Compound for extra grip and slower rebound

  • Cross Country (XC) folding bead version features single ply construction and Dual Tread Compound (DTC) for greater tread life and excellent cornering grip
