The 2008 Primerica DINO Mountain Bike Series rolled off to a solid start on May 3. Action began with a huge and highly competitive field of Pro and Expert Men. Trail conditions were good despite storms the prior afternoon and evening. Post-race festivities ensued at the Fat and Skinny Tire Festival in the Village at Winona Lake.

Jean-Luc Serriere returned to continue his winning ways of last year, finishing first for Expert/Pro at 1:54:34. Brad Nelson and Don Galligher battled for second, with Nelson getting the edge by three seconds at the finish of their three lap race. The top ten overall fastest three lap times were from wave 1, Pro/Elite. Ryan Kiel was the fastest rider out of the Expert Men's wave which started two minutes back.

Nicole Borem (photo above) dominated Expert Women on her home turf, taking the win by 10 minutes at 1:32:30 for two laps. Melanie Rogers and Angela Breeden claimed second and third places.

Jeff Frame, Andy Ritter, and Scott Hope topped Sport Men - passing many Sport Open riders who started ahead of them. Meredith Link, Emily Benson, and Brenna Macias were the top Sport Women.

The Primerica DINO Mountain Bike Series heads next to the trails of Brown County State Park, considered by many to be the state's best riding.

Start times on Sunday June 1 are noon for Expert/Pro and Sport, 2pm for Beginners, Juniors, Clydesdales, and Intro. The Shimano Youth Series kids race (free, short, and easy) starts at 3:30 pm. Awards will be presented at approximately 3:35 after the kids' race.
